Welcome Readers!!
Welcome to ad Imperia (The Governments).
In this blog, we will explore together the history as well as the movements and actions of modern governments.
I will hope to present varied content. We will look at ancient governments, cultures, and ideologies in how they formed the world of today. How did we get here? Why do governments do what they do? I will also hopefully attempt to connect the dots on the evolution of human government over the centuries as well as address the challenges that lay before governments of the world today.
Today the world is faced with globalization. Many of us have witnessed the formations of coalitions, federations, and unions of states in a way that has never been witnessed before in known human history. The European Union is one such example. What began as the European Coal and Steel Union grew over the next 60 years as one of the largest nations on the planet, exceeding the population of the United States by more than double.
There were many undercurrents of disagreement of the formulation of this union, many who opposed it, and there were those outside of the continent who wished to never witness a united Europe, fearful of the political and economic power it would possess. It was very similar in some ways as to why many nations opposed a united Germany for some realized the powerhouse it would become, and it did become a preeminent superpower on the face of the planet. Its unity would go one to contribute to two of the largest wars of human history. In modern times though, a Germany now united in the European Union beams as a great socioeconomic light to the rest of the world recovering two devastating World Wars.
Its subjects like these that this blog will explore. We will dig into what globalization means for our society and culture as well for the world at large. I will also investigate various governments of the world in comparison to personal freedom, economic growth, productivity, social well being and civil health. What are the tell tale signs of a well run government? How is it that some governments have worked to rid their bureaucracies of corruption? What governments are on the endangered list so to say, because of their backward policies.
I will attempt to publish monthly. Though, you may see more sporadic posts as time goes by. Keep a look out for updates.
Please join me in this venture as we explore ad Imperia, or The Governments.
Thank you for reading.
